Spring/Summer 2021 was designed during the first lockdown, making it a very different experience for both the designers and consumers. Overall there were 20% less shows compared to last year and 70% less runway shows. Designers instead presented each runway as a video channeling their unique creative voice during such time.
Most runway shows mostly took place outside, making the increased trend for natural places.
Despite us being in this weird reality of the pandemic there are a few trends that might be a little surprising such as disco (up 178% compared to last season), hoodie, hot pants and romantic. As consumers we do crave something that we can wear to escape our current unstable reality. Maybe it is even our party life nostalgia influencing upcoming trends.
Another set of trends that are increased in popularity are crop top, bra, wide leg pants and an overall minimal look.
As for the beauty and make up nude face and statement eyebrows have become really trendy. When it comes to hair, the after shower wet hair and short bangs is a winner.
It is crucial to see the increase in focus on sustainability and high quality of materials. You will see plenty of recycled jersey, denim, nylon and swarovski crystals.|
