Spring is one of my favourite seasons, and nothing symbolises spring more than tulips. I was feeling very inspired to create a tulip painting. I have taken pictures of the progress. Feel free to copy step by step or create your own composition.
Materials you will need:
Gouache paints (red, pink, yellow, orange, white, green, blue)
Brushes (a variety of sizes: fine detail brush, medium round brush, flat brush)
Mixing palette (for blending greens and blues)
Heavyweight watercolor paper
Water jar (for rinsing brushes)
Paper towel or rag (for blotting brushes)
Pencil (optional for light sketching)
Step by Step Guide:
Step 1: Take a picture of the composition and square it up so it will be easy for you to create the outline. You can also just sketch it out how you see it.

Step 2: Sketch the outline itself using the pencil. Look at the reference image and create the image that you desire.

Step 3: Put gouache paints on the palette. I love to place reds and yellows on one side and blues and greens on the other side.

Step 4: I love to paint flower by flower. I paint light areas first and then do the darks on the flower. I do not worry about the details of the painting.

Step 5: Start adding the greens. I use light greens first, only then I decided to add much darker colours.

Step 6: Paint in the background. I chose it to be light blue.

Step 7: Add some highlights and details to the painting.

And that is the final result for you.
