Artist.. let’s be real for a moment. I think we all heard this statement ( myself included: “I can not sell my art now, only when I am dead. Or that all “ artists are starving.”

Let’s get over those 2 myths. We now live in the 21st century where it is practically possible to make money from anything that you might do. You can make money as an artist as if now, not when you are dead.

Today I will cover different ways you can actually make a living as an artist ( living and breathing. Death is not mandatory.?)

Print on demand products:

You can sell your paintings as products like prints, mugs, hoodies and so much more. People are searching for unique gifts for their loved ones and as an artist, you would come in to actually solve the problem of creating something rather unique. There are no start-up costs for this as you can just print It in demand and you only pay when people buy.

The platform to do that that I love to use myself is Printiful for my shop is Shopify, perfect for drop shipping. Shopify comes with a 14-day free trial where you can experiment with all sort of cool stuff as it has an integration with Printful.

Printful is a print on demand company where you actually own the products you can sell. You can sell your designs on mugs, bags, pillows, posters, prints, etc.

Printful is a completely white label. Meaning, there won’t appear a logo from Printful on the products you create.

Printful allows you to decide your own profit. You can choose yourself how much you want to make from each product with their easy interface.

You can integrate Printful with almost every e-commerce platform: Etsy, Shopify, Squarespace, WordPress, Amazon, you name it!

Get started with Printful here >> It’s free, and you won’t be charged until you have an order.

Shopify step by step guide

Start teaching people how to do something?

Are you good at watercolor, or pencil or anything at all creative? Create yourself an online course on an online platform like Skillshare. That more or less will create the sales machine for you where people can watch your content, that will be evergreen and make you money from minutes watched.

People love to learn and if selling original art is not your thing then I think that would do. It is much less energy consuming than being an art teacher in a school or giving private lessons, that is a way to monetize but I have taught art students myself and from my experience, it was a very hard way to make some cash.

See below a video on how to create an online course on Skillshare.

Create an ebook

Now you do not need a publisher to create an online book. You can get it self – published on an online platform like Amazon. There, you just need to create a how to draw guide. There is a great demand for that.

People love to learn especially from great artists. Do not let your talents be hidden under the carpet.

Sell your art on Instagram

In the 21st century, you can get your art noticed by posting a picture online and getting it sold for very good money. Instagram is so widely used now so that many enjoy it even more than Etsy etc.

If you have Shopify then you can even do Shoppable tags on your artwork so they can purchase it right off it. So take social media and use it to your full advantage.

The more exposure you get now, the better it will be for you and your business.
