Learning how to draw eyes realistically in pencil is something that many people aspire to do.
This short tutorial will show you exactly step by step how to do it.
They are step by step, so that you can easily follow the directions.
Before you get started with learning how to draw eyes realistically, select a reference that you find that would like to draw.
Square up the reference.
Make sure that all of the supplies are ready and laid out for you to use. Refer to the supplies list above.
All of your pencils should be properly sharpened.
Preparation is key here.
Start by transferring the proportions and creating a very light sketch and outline from the reference.
Make sure that the pencil that you are using is HB and 2B pencil.
To transfer proportions, use a piece of paper.
That way you will ensure that the accuracy of the proportions is there.
The outlines need to be light, so that if you do make a mistake, then you can easily erase it.
The last step, when the outline is ready, make sure that you lightly erase the outline so when we move to the next step, you are fully ready.
Draw the details of the sketch.
It will include drawing the eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows.
The pencil that is the best for this sketch is 2B.
It is not yet too soft or too light.
Take your time with this part.
Make sure that the lashes are pointing in the right direction.
More time you spend preparing, the more beautiful it will be at the end, as well as realistic.
Start applying the first layer of hatching lightly with pencil 2B.
Shade in the darker areas of the reference image.
Make sure that the strokes are in the same direction, carefully put, because if you press too hard on the pencil, it will result in a very unprofessional.
Next, take the blending stump and smooth the skin out. Take your time with the blending of the skin.
This is what will create a beautiful base for the eyes.
Start adding a darker tone to the eyelashes as well as the eyebrows.
Focus on the details and continue drawing paying attention to the reference.
That needs to be done in a 4B pencil. Put in the first layer, and then tush it/blend it.
Take a 2B pencil and start drawing in the details of the eyes.
Pay close attention and shade in the pupil and the eye.
Do not press too hard, it will create a base for future layers and darker colours.
This is where you take a darker pencil and start creating the hairs of the eyelashes as well eyebrows.
For this you will need black art pencils and a 0.3 liner.
Pay close attention to detail for maximum realistic results.
Continue to shade, hatch and create the 3d realistic look.
This way you will create a drawing that is realistic.
Make sure that you refer to the drawing constantly.
The final step is to add highlight to the eyes as well as under the skin.
Make sure that you refer to the picture you copy from.
Go back and forth until you like the drawing that you have created.
This is it. If you did like the tutorial, make sure to pin it to your board or share it with your friends.
